The Institute for Spirituality and Health Promotes Jeff Sokoloff and Leah Adams to Newly Created Roles

The Institute for Spirituality and Health (the Institute) recently announced the advancement of two senior employees to new leadership positions. Jeff Sokoloff is now the Vice President of Operations, and Leah Adams is now the Vice President of Engagement. Sokoloff has been with The Institute for nearly eight years and Adams for two years.

In his new role, Sokoloff will plan, direct, coordinate, and oversee operations activities for the organization while continuing to manage many of the advancement and development activities in his previous role as Vice President for Advancement. He also plans The Institute’s annual Conference on Medicine and Religion, collaborating with leading educational institutions focused on the emerging field of medical humanities at the intersection of medicine and world religions.

In her new role, Adams will enhance the Institute’s connection with the community, focusing on well-being and the mission of the Institute. She will engage the community in education, service and research, and lead strategic publicity and relationship development in alignment to the mission and goals of the Institute. She plans to engage with the community to foster resilience and well-being through further development of the Institute’s Circle of Friends, its Ambassador’s Council, and to identify programmatic areas across the Houston community serving children and adults.

More about Jeff Sokoloff
Sokoloff is an experienced advancement executive with a demonstrated history of working in non-profits. He is skilled in fundraising, event management, conference planning, and leadership. Before joining the Institute, Sokoloff served in fundraising and leadership positions at the Jewish Federation of Greater Houston, the Coalition for the Homeless of Houston/Harris County, the Anti-Defamation League/Southwest Region, and the American Heart Association. Sokoloff is a graduate of UCLA and Brandeis University.

More about Leah Adams
Adams is a Project Management Professional (PMP) with certification in nonprofit leadership from Rice University and over 20 years in global corporate and nonprofit executive management. Her 20 years of experience in global corporate program and project management in the functional areas of finance, legal, human resources and information technology and with stakeholders at all levels. Besides her PMP certification and CNPL certification, Adams will soon be certified as a Mind-Body Skills Facilitator for children and adults from the Center for Mind-Body Medicine. For more than twelve years she volunteered weekly facilitating grief and trauma support groups for children and adults in the Houston community. She continues to create and facilitate programs supporting resilience and health. She co- founded and produced the inaugural Sedona Yoga Festival and Healing Arts Conference, and continues to be passionate about fostering well-being. Adams is a graduate of the University of Houston.

Founded in 1955, The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center was originally known as the Institute of Religion. Today, its Board of Trustees includes representation from each of the major faith traditions as well as leading medical, nursing, and servant leaders.
