The Institute for Spirituality and Health to Host Virtual Event “Silent Nights: Grief, Stress, and Coping During the Holidays” on Thursday, Dec. 8

NEWS RELEASE

HOUSTON, Texas (Nov. 28, 2022) -- The Institute for Spirituality and Health at the Texas Medical Center

(The Institute) is offering a FREE virtual program on Thursday, Dec. 8, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. “Silent

Nights: Grief, Stress, and Coping During the Holidays” is open to anyone struggling with loss and grief

during the holidays. For more information and to register, please visit

https://www.spiritualityandhealth.org/events/silentnights2022.

For many, the winter holiday season is a time to come together as well as a time when grief and loss are

felt most deeply. The Institute’s 9th Annual Silent Nights program offers a safe space to hear and share

stories of grief and know that an individual is not alone. Members of The Institute’s bereavement group

and others who have a unique experience to share will speak and open a discussion for healing. Guest

speakers include:

• Karen Jackson Carter, motivational speaker, minister, author

• Amy Bairdi, artist and writer

• Corey Jefferson Sr., wellness coordinator

“Whether it was a recent loss or one that occurred some time ago, feelings of grief can be heightened

and may seem overwhelming during the holiday season. Understanding how grief affects you and taking

time to find ways to remember your loved ones can help restore a sense of balance through this time.

The Institute is proud to offer a safe space for people to reflect and seek peace during this season,” said

Leah Adams, vice president of engagement at The Institute.

Silent Nights is an event that complements The Institute’s free ongoing support groups, which include

bereavement groups, midweek meditations, and a weekly mind body skills group for togetherness.
