Mindful Medicine
6-Week Mind-Body Skills Group
for Healthcare Professionals
Thursdays, 7:30-9:00pm CDT| July 2 - August 6
Have you ever witnessed a patient that had a breakdown and for a moment you felt overwhelmed with how to handle the situation? I have, and one of the first things I did was exhaled and told the patient to do the same. The pain was still present but so was I, as I was "there" with them during that moment. There were two other patients on treatment tables nearby that I needed to check on, but I made it a point to be present with that patient. There are SO many things that are beyond our control, but there are SOME things we can learn to control and better manage. People come into our clinics, facilities, and hospital with pain that we may diagnose but they may deal with other forms of pain that we don't see that we don't have an ICD-9 code for. In this 6-week group, we will introduce methods to use prior to serving patients & to use during those critical moments of treating patients. Ex. Journal Writing & Meditation, Centering Prayer, Meditation, Stillness practices and Breath work.
Facilitator: Felicia Wenah is Clinic Director of Sport Specific Physical Therapy facility in Missouri City, TX. She has worked directly with patients as a physical therapy technician and most recently she works with administration, interns and management staff to ensure proper care for staff is key so they can in-turn serve their patients to the best of their abilities. She has graduated both Professional and Advanced Training Programs through the Center for Mind-Body Medicine.
