The current pandemic has amplified the effects and prominence of loneliness and social isolation across professions and social groups. Experiences of isolation can lead to burnout, chronic stress, and depression, among other symptoms. The 2020 Nursing Conference will bring together four unique voices to consider the nature of loneliness and isolation, exploring how these concepts are relevant to the practice of nursing and engaging in self-care practices to help alleviate them.
Speakers will Include:
Lee Coffee - Defining Isolation from a Physical, Emotional, Social and Spiritual Perspective, for Patients and Healthcare Professionals
Dr. Gale Kennebrew - Exploring the Implications of Isolation on Health and Wellness, and Assessment Tools to Identify and “Grade” Isolation
Rev. Sean Palmer - Exploring Interventions to Ameliorate Isolation for Both Patients and Providers
Cyrus Wirls - Mind-body Skills to Support Wellness for Patient and Self
